Music Fun Week of July 24

UPDATES in RED (scroll down)
A couple of dynamite shows at George’s tonite & tomorrow:  Ray Obiedo & Mambo Caribe, performing the music of Bob Marley, Tito Puente, and Sergio Mendez—Caribbean, Reggae, Brazilian, and Latin Jazz! , and Petty Theft tomorrow … as well as many wonderful musicians at our other local establishments.
Tonite I’ll start at Pacheco, then on to Doc Kraft at McInnis. Tomorrow I’ll be at the JCC for Steve Riley and expect to see my zydeco/Cajun friends; and then on to George’s to close out Petty Theft.
Sunday is a whirlwind tour: after Unity hope to get to Magnolia Terrace for Dynamo Jones, then Sweetwater for the Moonalice show, and have an evening of fun with Elliott & Cathey at 19 Broadway!
Details all below! Please enjoy each day of your precious life!

Oh, yeah.  Big weekend, all right!  I have realized that my energy builds up all week long, so that each day is better than the one before (or so it seems), but on Monday I’m pretty depleted and have to start all over again.  Whatever works, eh?  And my Gratitude overflows …

So here’s how it went down!  I never arrive at start times, but the last 30 or 40 minutes at Northgate for THE SUN KINGS were spectacular. I’m not certain, but think this was the biggest dancing crowd for that venue ever!  FABULOUS to see so many of you there enjoying it all ♫♪♫♫
And following that, made our way to SUNNBOLT for a real party-up (as in giddy-up) with The Mighty Groove along with Mr. Dan Brown & Full Steem.  Most often at the Sunnbolt jams there are plenty of folks sitting or standing grooving along, but this time… everyone in the joint was dancing! Or that’s what I saw …
Saturday was a fine day, leading up to the Seahorse bash with THE TICKETS BAND-- Debra, Mike, Will, Jeff and Kelly. This was their “We’ll-Respect-You-In-The-Morning” Tour – and I’m counting on that!
Sunday, after an inspirational (always!) session at Unity in Marin, headed for a pool party in Terra Linda; didn’t drown, but completely lost track of time and missed out on Magnolia Terrace, and JAMES MOSELEY R&B Quartet in Corte Madera!  What’s a poor girl to do??! [just keep dancing ♫♪♫]

This week for Ellen Jane?  Thursday eve at Nourish for the Jamie Clark Band would be nice … beautiful venue, beautiful music.  On Friday we’ll probably swing by Pacheco, though I don’t [yet] know the band, Los Boleros. Always a convivial spot, many friendly faces and dancers (including some of the kiddies!).  Ray Obiedo & Mambo Caribe is enticing me to George’s … Have not had confirmation about Doc Kraft at McInnis—his website lists it as Aug. 10. Confirmed: the Doc is at McInnis on Fri., from 7 or 7:30 to 10pm, on the patio, no cover. Just in time for my checkup.  And take a look at the rest of the Friday lineup.
On Saturday—well, I won tix for Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys at the JCC—so that’s where I’ll be, lucky me & Carlos!  But hate to miss Petty Theft at George’s… and there’s The 7th Sons, Danny Click, HoneyDust, Fely Tchaco, and so many more making beautiful music!
Sunday … I’m curious about Dynamo Jones at Magnolia Terrace; but Moonalice will be at Sweetwater, and the evening has Elliott’s Evil Plan with Miss Kitty-Cat Cotten at 19 Broadway. And of course there is more listed below. Just fire me up, and transport me to the dance floor! Yay!

Our friends at George’s Nightclub are continuing their great promotion:  Celebrate your birthday there with a show!  Buy 5 tickets for friends, and the 6th one (for you) is a Comp! They’ll also treat you to a bottle of champagne.  Call for details and to book 415-226-0262.

Where do we go with GRATITUDE? How do I thank each and every friend and musician who bring such JOY and ENERGY to my life?
The week[end] began for me on Wednesday at the Corte Madera Big Band Dance, and Nightclub 2-step lesson with Liz Wong.  She’ll be back with more free dance lessons on Wed. Aug. 8, but we’ll have to wait til the 2nd Wed. in Sept. for the Ray Simpson Big Band to return.  This is one of the best [free] series in the county; so good to see so many of you there!

Cathey Cotten and Elliott Shannonhouse and their special brand of nasty musical pleasures encapsulated in Elliott’s Evil Plan, made their debut at Sweetwater last Friday, and I was there to help them celebrate …
And the Pacheco Plaza outdoor series on Fri. nite with Tracy Rose & Company, including wonderful vocalist Lauralee Brown.

Then there was FOREVERLAND and their non-stop sexy routines at George’s on Saturday night, after an afternoon birthday celebration/picnic with Friends at the Petaluma Cheese Factory. …
And old pals the BLUES BURNERS: DC, KC, Mike and morewith their spot-on blend of blues & rock-- for a hot Sunday outdoors on a cool and windy afternoon at the Corte Madera Town Center.

Coming up on Friday, looks like a real party for The Mighty Groove and Dan Brown & Full Steem at Sunnbolt Studios; there’s also Rudy Colombini at PYC, Pride and Joy at George’s, Sun Kings at Northgate, and so much more. Looking forward to The TICKETS BAND at Seahorse on Saturday, and there’s Gator Beat at George’s, Treble Makers, Jose Neto, Tommy Castro, African music at JCC --see what I mean? I won’t even mention Sunday (well, I’ll likely hear James Moseley, and maybe hit the Magnolia Terrace as well).  A wealth of musical riches at our fingertips!  Scroll through and you'll see it all ...

And Trek Winery is soon to open in downtown Novato--I'll be announcing in the very near future!
