Music Fun Week of Wed. Nov. 27

GRATITUDE, not platitude.  How are you blessed?

I’m looking forward to my concerts with the Marin Symphony Chamber Chorus coming up soon, Dec. 7 & 8.  Here’s the flyer—I’d love your support (and so would the Marin Symphony)!  Please contact me if I can pick up tickets for you at one of my rehearsals.

Didn’t get out for any nightlife until Friday, but then we made up for it … to the Elks Club for Nick Fitch’s Winter Music Series—for Rusty Evans.  Plenty of new-to-us Elks members, and lots of others who signed up for the Guest List.  (Next up is Go! Kat! Go! on December 13.)  We left there around 11 or so and dropped in at Hopmonk for The Fall Risk—jam band with plenty of old hippies on the dance floor.
Saturday night we tossed a coin and headed for Sweetwater, for FOREVERLAND, whom we haven’t seen for the better part of the year.  We made it into the SOLD-OUT show, where the dance floor was covered with what seemed like about a thousand ecstatic Michael Jackson worshippers.  Foreverland puts on a wonderful show, and I was especially impressed with the talent of the new female singer!  Fun, FUN, FUN!  [Sorry though to miss Danny Click & The Hell Yeahs! at the Rancho, and Greg Johnson & Glass Brick Boulevard at Fenix …]
Back at Sweetwater on Sunday for another great FREE MOONALICE show.  Lots of love on stage and on the dance floor.  Express yourself!!

TONIGHT:  Soul Satellites at Peri’s, including Bonnie Hayes back in town from Boston; also, at Sweetwater is a special Vinyl show, and fun at Hopmonk with Dennis Haneda’s Open Mic

Friday is wide-open … will it be Northbay Blues Revue at Seahorse? or The 85s at Sweetwater, or Lumanation at 19 Broadway? And faves Zydeco Flames are at Eagles in Alameda.
Saturday may find us in Fairfax again, for the special benefit for Hummingbird Café at both 19 Broadway and Sleeping Lady—and including many of our favorite musicians.  Take a look at the listing below!  Also Bud E Luv is back at Rancho with his crazy show, and I’ve heard Greg Scott (at Fenix) is fabulous!
Sunday quite likely we’ll be back at Sweetwater for more Moonalice.

Hope you get out and move it … And if you can’t, have fun inside your head! ♫♪♫♪

Music Fun Week of Nov. 19

One of Life’s Lessons:  When something’s going on that you can’t change … maybe you can change your attitude about it.  Good luck with that ♫♪♪

Because it uplifts me, here are some pretty photos of my daughter Laura Mae, in the couture dress she made for this year’s Marin Symphony Gala.  She also made the beaded belt, purse, hat, brooch, and shoe clips.  Follow her blog at LauraMaeDesigns.com (LilacsandLace).

Photos from her October blog  "Gala 2013: The Reveal"

[FYI: I’ll be switching the publication date of my blog to Wednesdays …]

SWELL time with the James Moseley Band at Sweetwater Wednesday night—WOW to James, Carrie, Haley, Jack, Marina, Rob, John and KC! A real mid-week treat.  Gotta get them to book you on a weekend and fill the house!
Friday night Carlos & I thought we’d keep it simple and just hang at the Hopmonk, but what a surprise! ORGONE blew us away.  Their fans jammed every inch of space, and they funkified it to the extreme!
On Saturday we had intended to join the crowd at PYC for Revolver, but what began as a wine-tasting event turned into a super Rolling Stones dance/ Birthday party for host Karen!  We stayed WAY too late to make it down the 101 to Sausalito.
Sunday late afternoon we went to the West End Village (4th St.) celebration for the antics of Wonderbread 5, and had a tasty meal at Whipper Snapper – who’ve just celebrated their 5th Anniversary of being in business!

Here it is Wednesday already and my presses are still rolling.  Thursday looks like a lot of fun happening in Fairfax—both at Peri’s for Burnsy’s Sugar Shack, and 19 Broadway with Fighting Smoky Joe and Sunfur.  Also at Presidio Y.C. with Eddie Neon!
Friday our neighborhood Hopmonk has The Fall Risk for something new to Carlos and me, and there’s Rusty Evans & Ring of Fire at the Elks Club (you must sign up for guest list if you intend to go …).
Saturday brings yet another dilemma of where to be:  Greg Johnson & Glass Brick Blvd. at Fenix, or Danny Click & The Hell Yeahs! at Rancho, or Foreverland at Sweetwater.  We may not know until we go!

And on Sunday we hope to help Larry continue his birthday celebration with Moonalice at Sweetwater

Hope you get out and move it … And if you can’t, have fun inside your head! ♫♪♫♪
