Music Fun Week of Aug. 27, 2013 -- AND Johnnie Jean's Memorial Celebration

UPDATES (since Tuesday) in RED
Just put one foot in front of the other … or to the side, or to the back … give a shake and a hop, and the music is on, and you’re dancing!
Each day is a GIFT. Use it well and wisely.  ♫♪

Fun at the JCC Zydeco

JOHNNIE JEAN DANIEL MEMORIAL CELEBRATION
As previously mentioned, Sunday, September 8, from noon to 5pm.  However, venue has changed to accommodate more people:  Stafford Lake Park, Group Area 1http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/PK/ParkRes/Park.aspx?ParkId=11
* There is a $10 per car parking fee—so please carpool, as parking is not unlimited and we expect many friends-- AND there is another event in the adjoining group area.
* This is a potluck, and alcohol is allowed.
* No dogs allowed at this park--sorry.
* Seating is limited, so please bring lawn chairs
* To save Ed from renting tables (there are a few provided), please let me know if you can bring a table or two and I will relay info to him.
* Need large coolers for water, soft drinks, beer—and possible keg(s).  Again, let me know if you can bring so Ed doesn’t have to hustle.
There will be MUSIC, of course.
More details to come—and hope you can!  With LOVE to JJ ♫♪♫♪

What were Carlos & I up to last week?  Friday nite found us close-by at Hopmonk for a taste of country with Buck Nickels & Loose Change – out of my normal comfort zone, but as I say: “My ears are open!” And great fun to watch the country two-step – more to it than I thought!  We arrived just in time for the last tune by Third Rail with friends Bob McBain & Tucker McMullen—glad we did …
Sat. nite party at a friend’s, we stayed put (“don’t leave a good time to have a good time”)—so we “missed out” on another party, and on our pals The Tickets Band at Seahorse—hope you were there!  On Sunday, after Unity in Marin, we boogied over to Magnolia Terrace at the Elks Club and heard some Danny Montana & the Bar Association for good-time country rock & blues. Then on to the Mill Valley Plaza for Todd Morgan & the Emblems—an entertaining group of young rockin’ musicians from Sac’to.

And what’s up for this week?  Choices, choices! …
Wednesday would be sweet to get to Mill Valley again for the last summer concert in the plaza:  The Hot Club of Marin.  And then there’s Greg Johnson & Glass Brick Boulevard at Sweetwater.  Or we could hang at home at Hopmonk and check out Dennis Haneda’s Open Mic.  Thursday ???
Friday looks good for Commander Cody at Hopmonk – but James Moseley Dance Band is at Seahorse, and Zydeco Flames are at Eagles, and again, lots of local choices on a Friday night!
Not sure right now if we will brave the traffic in Sausalito this weekend, but plenty happening there along with the Sausalito Arts Festival; Saturday also looks good close to home, with Freestone Peaches (Duane Allman Tribute) at Hopmonk Novato, and Sugadady at Fenix.
Sunday we’d like to brave our way to the Sausalito Cruising Club in the evening for Cole Tate Band and The 7th Sons—for a Virgo birthday party for our friends Sabina and Jake and others!  The Cruising Club has an “open to the public” permit for that day only, so you do not have to be on a guest list.
On Monday there’s the Doc Kraft Band at Seahorse – again a Sausalito trip – so we’ll see where the fates lead us …

Check out all the calendar listings below, find yourself some good music and move your body!  ♫♪♫♪
