Music Fun Week of July 30, 2013

Aloha Happy to vacation in Hawaii, Happy to be Home … sounds like a win/win!

Yes, it was BEAUTIFUL, and reliving many wonderful memories, but I’m delighted to be home in Marvelous Marin!  There’s nothing like it!
I could not wait to get dancing, so after sleeping most of the day (after our red-eye arrival Thursday a.m.), stepped out for the James Moseley Band debut at Fenix!  They opened up the dance floor for us, and the Band and Dancers worked it!
Friday we caught up with the crowd for good times with Doc Kraft Band at the Seahorse.
Saturday the phenomenal Danny Click & the Hell Yeahs got us going at Hopmonk.  I was torn about missing Soul Satellites at Peri’s, Mighty Groove at PYC, and Unauthorized Rolling Stones at Sweetwater – but just could not divide my time like that.  Sometimes you don’t leave a good time to have a good time!
Sunday we joined the crowd at San Anselmo’s Creek Park to bid awesome Bonnie Hayes adieu, with plenty of joyful gyrating.
The endorphins are running rampant!!

I’ve posted lots of photos of our trip on my facebook page.  This is not a brazen attempt to collect Friends—I have never spent much time there (*and have far fewer FB Friends than those to whom I send this blast) – but I found it’s way easier to send photos directly to facebook than post to my blog.  Have a look-see. Of course, our Hawaiian vacation was glorious!!  And I managed to avoid a tan--LOL!

Full Moon, on the Beach at Waikiki

What’s on tap for Carlos & Ellen this week?  Wednesday let’s help Lynn Asher celebrate her birthday at Fenix.  Thursday maybe the Farmers’ Market for some Key Lime Pie.  Friday most definitely we’ll begin the evening at Northgate for Petty Theft, then on to Sunnbolt Jam, or Hopmonk for Rusty Evans, or Sleeping Lady for Danny Click … Saturday hope to catch up with our friends The Tickets Band at Presidio Yacht Club.  There’s also HoneyDust at Hopmonk, and Donna D at Seahorse!  Sunday we can hang at Magnolia Terrace with Firewheel, or Hopmonk Beer Garden – and there’s goings-on in Corte Madera and elsewhere … Check out all the calendar listings below, find yourself some good music and move your body!  ♫♪♫♪

Music Fun Week of July 16, 2013

And away we go …!

To Hawaii, that is. Carlos and I leaving today for my first ever tropical paradise vacation!

There’s a lot going on in Marin that we will miss – see my calendar below – but we will make the best of it on our holiday!
And we’ll look forward to much musical merry-making upon our return on Thursday July 25. See Mark Your Calendars for a splendid lineup to come! (starting with James Moseley Band debut at Fenix!)

This past Wednesday Carlos & I happily attended another Big Band Dance at the Corte Madera Community Center.  This is a real gem for the community, and no cover!  They skip August, and will resume the 2nd Wednesday of September.
Friday we stopped by Hopmonk for some Roy Rogers and the Delta Rhythm Kings, slinging and slicing it up, and making it pretty hard not to dance.
Saturday evening, after a wonderful gathering of friends, a difficult decision on where to go dancing, because two of my top bands were at different venues. We finally made it down to the Seahorse for James Moseley Dance Band and rocked out. Thanks James, Carrie, Haley, Jack, Jean, Marina, KC, Rob and the guest on congas! – wish we could have spent time with The Tickets Band as well.
On Sunday glad I made it to Magnolia Terrace for Linda Imperial Band with David Freiberg and other musical luminaries.  It was a real rock concert, in a gorgeous setting, dancing on the lawn.  Nick Fitch puts together a great summer series – you should check it out if you haven’t already. Next one July 28.  ♫♪♫♪

Carrie, Ellen & Haley après the Dance!

I will not be putting out a calendar while I’m vacationing.  If you want to know what’s happening next week you can click on any of the venues on my list to check out their websites.

Listen to the Music, and Dance (like nobody's watching)!!
And remember to TIP our wonderful and talented MUSICIANS!  Also please support all the gracious venues that support MUSIC.
