Music Fun Week of June 3-10, 2015

JUNE is bustin’ out all over! ♪♪♫♫♪

Summer Solstice, Dads & Grads, Weddings and Babies, Music Festivals, and all those June BIRTHDAYS!  Like mine (24, my favorite number)!  Let’s get to celebrating our Birthday Month ♪♫

Trish's newest grandchild, Andrew!
Thrilled to meet you, Andrew!
What it was, how I celebrated with music:
Wednesday Peri’s, TWANGFEST with Treble Makers Frank, Jeb, Kevin, Schrammie—as well as Tal Morris, Danny Click, Monroe Grisman, Tommy Odetto, and more fab musicians than I can remember.  I love these guys!  Love to Ted O, RIP **
Friday back at Peri’s for the always entertaining and musical magic of The Right Time [& Fenton Coolfoot], followed by Stymie and the Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra – more phenomenal energy, funky  stage show!
Saturday Fairfax again (!), for dancin’ fun with Korty & Friends at 19 Broadway, with Jonathan K, Frank Bohan, Dave Burns, Dan Duffin -- the new and improved 19 Broadway!
♫♪♪

What’s coming?
Friday we begin our outdoor music series, at Northgate for FOREVERLAND!  Way to break in the season!!
After that, possibly head to Hopmonk for Pop Rocks, or to Seahorse for Doc Kraft …There’s also Stefanie Keys at Fenix, Chime Travelers at Rickey’s, The 7th Sons at Elks Club (must RSVP beforehand), and more (I think there are 20 venues listed for Friday this week!).
Saturday there’s Vinyl at 19 Broadway, James Henry & Hands on Fire at Fenix, Steve Lucky & The Rhumba Bums at Rancho – but if I can get up to Twin Oaks, it’s SugarFoot (preceded by Void Where Prohibited).
Sunday Firewheel plays at Fenix; Sunday Cookout Music Series at Hopmonk, and 1st Sunday Reggae in the Session Room; the Corte Madera Town Center afternoon series begins.
Wednesday there’s the monthly Big Band Swing Dance at Corte Madera Community Center.

Looking forward next weekend (13th & 14th) to the NOVATO ART WINE & MUSIC Festival, as well as Fairfax Festival.  Quite a fabulous music lineup at both venues this year!  Though logistically speaking, quite likely I will be in Novato both days.  Where is my magic carpet??

[That Summer Music Series listing has grown.  I’ll be posting as promised, but when I do it will cover the weekly Music Fun listing, so you’ll have to keep scrolling back for that.]

Music Fun Week of July 18

UPDATES in RED (scroll down for Fri., Sat., Sun., & Mark Your Calendars)
Our friends at George’s Nightclub are continuing with a great promotion:  Celebrate your birthday there with a show!  Buy 5 tickets for friends, and the 6th one (for you) is a Comp! They’ll also treat you to a bottle of champagne.  Call for details and to book 415-226-0262.

Where do we go with GRATITUDE? How do I thank each and every friend and musician who bring such JOY and ENERGY to my life?
The week[end] began for me on Wednesday at the Corte Madera Big Band Dance, and Nightclub 2-step lesson with Liz Wong.  She’ll be back with more free dance lessons on Wed. Aug. 8, but we’ll have to wait til the 2nd Wed. in Sept. for the Ray Simpson Big Band to return.  This is one of the best [free] series in the county; so good to see so many of you there!

Cathey Cotten and Elliott Shannonhouse and their special brand of nasty musical pleasures encapsulated in Elliott’s Evil Plan, made their debut at Sweetwater last Friday, and I was there to help them celebrate …
And the Pacheco Plaza outdoor series on Fri. nite with Tracy Rose & Company, including wonderful vocalist Lauralee Brown.

Then there was FOREVERLAND and their non-stop sexy routines at George’s on Saturday night, after an afternoon birthday celebration/picnic with Friends at the Petaluma Cheese Factory. …
And old pals the BLUES BURNERS: DC, KC, Mike and morewith their spot-on blend of blues & rock-- for a hot Sunday outdoors on a cool and windy afternoon at the Corte Madera Town Center.

Coming up on Friday, looks like a real party for The Mighty Groove and Dan Brown & Full Steem at Sunnbolt Studios; there’s also Rudy Colombini at PYC, Pride and Joy at George’s, Sun Kings at Northgate, and so much more. Looking forward to The TICKETS BAND at Seahorse on Saturday, and there’s Gator Beat at George’s, Treble Makers, Jose Neto, Tommy Castro, African music at JCC --see what I mean? I won’t even mention Sunday (well, I’ll likely hear James Moseley, and maybe hit the Magnolia Terrace as well).  A wealth of musical riches at our fingertips!  Scroll through and you'll see it all ...

And Trek Winery is soon to open in downtown Novato--I'll be announcing in the very near future!

Please bookmark my website, and check back regularly for UPDATES as the week progresses:  www.ellenjanesmusic.com

Music Fun Week of July 10

UPDATES in RED
Major Thanks & Appreciation to my wonderful friend Steve Johnson, for designing my very own business cards. I have 4 designs, still playing/celebrating with all of them, deciding which to go with …
The better angels in all of us will prevail …

How do I show my appreciation for all the enjoyment, pleasure, uplifting I get from all my musician friends?? I guess by continuing to show up, dancing, and just keep on singing their praises, and encouraging all y’all to come out and enjoy as well …

The 4th at Rancho was pure holiday magic, with the Zydeco Flames & the fabulous Ms. Lynn Asher“Take me to the river…” PLEASE!  ♫♪♪♫
After Zoo Station (U2 tribute) at Northgate, Sunnbolt 1st Friday Jam was cool, hot & friendly—as usual.  So many great musicians and smiling faces—thanks Beth & Knut for providing this wondrous “space”! Always something unexpected and fun.
On Sat. at Seahorse, was privileged to hear the Jamie Clark Band, and they were all I had expected and more … very talented, very danceable, completely wonderful flavors—happy and soulful. Don’t miss Jamie if you can get to his next gig …

Magnolia Terrace (outdoor space at Elks Club) on Sunday afternoon: where were you?  Rockit Science, great rockin’ band, could have used a lot more audience.  This is a fabulous venue often used for weddings, with sun, shade, lawn, brick, patio—plenty of space to picnic and dance or just listen to the music. Not happening this coming Sunday, but I’ll keep posting throughout the summer. Coming bands are Groove Society, Dynamo Jones, Firewheel, The Fibrillators, Danny Montana, and Big Dog Trouble—thru Aug. 26.

Our friends at George’s Nightclub are having a great promotion:  Celebrate your birthday there with a show!  Buy 5 tickets for friends, and the 6th one (for you) is a Comp! They’ll also treat you to a bottle of champagne.  Call for details and to book 415-226-0262.

Where will I be this week?  Definitely the Corte Madera Big Band Dance on Wed. nite, with a free Nightclub 2-Step dance lesson at 6:30. Friday evening looks good at Pacheco with the Tracy Rose Quartet.  Ooo, it’s Friday the 13th… Maybe get down to the Sweetwater after Pacheco for Elliott’s Evil Plan with Cathey Cotton (congrats on the booking)!  But the Hoodoo Rhythm Devils at George’s might put a spell on me: after all, it is Friday the 13th …  On Saturday (following an afternoon picnic at the Cheese Factory), be at George’s for FOREVERLAND—one of those musical pleasures that make me feel like I’m in my 20s again!  My friends The Blues Burners will be at the Corte Madera Town Center on Sunday, and so will I.
How’s your week lookin’?  Hope to dance into you soon.
