Music Fun Week of Dec. 27, 2012

UPDATES in RED
Wishing for Protection, Compassion, Guidance, and Joy for All!

This wonderful holiday season is rocking, but there’s also been some time for rest. Weather not too cooperative, but when it is—we’re so grateful to see the Sun!  Carlos & I took it easy this week, I think—that is, we did not go out every night. But we did dance at Hopmonk Novato twice this week! – on Tuesday for Donny Mederos’ Pro Jam with The Blues Defenders and virtuoso Ron Thompson. This may be a regular gig here, perhaps twice a month. Worth checking out!  We were back there on Saturday night (following our wine-tasting group’s holiday party full of friendly faces) for the gypsy/jazz group DJIIN—who really got the crowd on their feet twirling around and expressing themselves! Yep, like nobody was watching!  A couple more wonderful Christmas Eve parties: Theresa & Lindsey hosted the Zydeco crowd, and then a rock/blues jam at Dave’s.  What a life—but somebody has to do it!   Christmas Day was quiet, but now ready to kick it up a few notches for festivities to come!

Eagerly anticipating the James Moseley Band Pre-NYE Dance Party at the Seahorse on Saturday. Friday is Laura’s birthday (my fabulous daughter turns 32!), and we hope to go to the DeYoung for their current Nureyev exhibit. If time and energy and weather permit, hope to catch The 7th Sons at PYC afterwards.  And Sunday Moonalice again presents one of their free shows at Sweetwater.  New Year’s Eve?  Very easy to stay local and rock out with Petty Theft at Hopmonk Novato! Or if the fates so choose, we’ll mosey down to 142 Throck for Danny Click & the Hell Yeahs! What about you?

Whatever your plans, be Safe, Responsible, and full of Good Cheer--and may 2013 shine brightly for You! ♪♫♪

Music Fun Week of Dec. 18, 2012

UPDATES in RED [I continue to add through Friday each week]
*Love the Life you Live, Live the Life you Love!* --Bob Marley
Wishing you Love and Health in this merry season.  Prayers for those who suffer, and Hope that a brighter future is ahead.

My thanks to the Music-Makers and Sustainers who touched my Life this past week! The James Moseley Jazz Trio with Jack Prendergast & Steve Malerbi at the Panama Hotel on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday the Corte Madera Rec Center hosted the monthly Ray Simpson Big Band Dance; and on Thursday we stopped by TREK Winery for the music & humor of Rob Sundberg along with friend Mike, performing as Black Cat Bone. The Hopmonk Novato on Friday for Ghosts of Electricity--Mark Karan, Stu Allen, and the other great jammers, with an eclectic crowd of dancers. And we rounded out the dancing on Sat. nite at George's, for two outstanding bands: The Edge with Lorin Rowan and Jimmy Dillon; and Lumanation, fronted by madman Bobby Galyan.  Finally, on Sunday, dropped by Rickey’s for “17 Strings”James Moseley on 6-string guitar, Alex Markels on 7-string, and Jack Prendergast on bass guitar.  Lovely blessed week!  And thank you, Carlos.

This week: Tonight (Tues.) at the Hopmonk for Donny Mederos' Pro Jam, hosted by The Blues Diamonds with Special Guest Rob Thompson--virtuoso blues guitarist. The rest of the week is musically fluid, no firm plans … perhaps Eddie Neon at the PYC on Thursday; Saturday there’s a party, and perhaps Todd Morgan & the Emblems--whom we've never heard, but come highly recommended--at Nourish. More parties coming our way!  Blessings.
