SHOUTOUTS/ What Happened last week …
Thursday the Legion of Honor with lovely Laura, darling daughter, for the “High Style” fashion exhibit on loan from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection.  Of course, this is her milieu, and she dressed in one of her fabulous creations a la Dior, with a self-made stunning hat as well.  We were accosted as soon as we arrived, before we even entered the building, by a lovely group of young women visiting from Beijing.  They were so entranced with Laura, and had to have multiple photos with us and their group of 10 or 12.  This was a mere precursor to the attention that followed us throughout the afternoon.  I love interacting with strangers, and Laura was very gracious.  It was our little movie!
Friday I spent time with friends at our community Pub, but didn’t get out to dance.  Perhaps that was wise, so that I was rested for what was to come on Saturday and Sunday!
Saturday JAMES MOSELEY Dance Band!!!  What can I say about the band that got me going in 2008 -- and I haven’t stopped since.  I LOVE YOU GUYS and GALS!!  Thanks for an awesome party at the Seahorse!!  And thanks to all you friends who helped me celebrate J
Sunday Foreverland at Belvedere.  Love that Michael Jackson …  After that, ended up exploring with  tour guide Larry—to places I’d never been: we found The Armory, scouted the territory, checked out Bucks Landing, toured Max’s Pig ‘n’ Pie food truck (he parks it there).  Immaculate!  He was preparing what looked like 100 pounds of meat for the smoker for the next day.  I yelped, and found that everyone is crazy about this man and his food.  I’m not a big meat eater, but look forward to tasting when I see his truck out & about.  And Big Red of Bucks Landing … I’ll post a photo later.
Tuesday evening: I’ll See You in My Dreams with Laura Mae.  People have told me over the years that I remind them of Blythe Danner – so at the conclusion of the film (which I quite enjoyed, bittersweet), I asked Laura if there was some resemblance.  Her response:  “Are you kidding?  She’s calm, you’re manic.”  And there we have it, from my daughter, who should know LOL!

Wednesday is here!  YAY, my really Birthday!
Fenix Ladies Night, Motown celebration – hope you can be there!  After that will go to Peri’s for the TwangFest with The Treble Makers Frank, Jeb, Kevin, Eric, and Lloyd!—and a host of musical guests, no doubt.

The rest of the week:
Thursday heading for the Sonoma Marin Fair for the Beach Boys.
But if you’re staying around Marin – there’s the incomparable MOJO RISING playing at Marin Art & Garden Center.
Friday: a wealth of early evening music … another chance to catch MOJO RISING—at Tam Valley Creekside; as well as Salsa at Pacheco Plaza; and Go By Ocean at Marinwood.

To tell the truth, I have no idea at this moment what the weekend will bring, musically-speaking.  Let the good times unfold! ♫♫♪

Wednesday, June 24  – Happy Birthday, Steve J!  Happy Birthday, Ellen Jane!  Happy Birthday, Mick Fleetwood!  Happy Birthday, Jeff Beck!  Happy Birthday, St. John the Baptist!  Happy Birthday, Janell!

Music Fun Week of June 17-24 (my Birthday!--yes, I love it!)

This week:  Summer Solstice—First Day of Summer!  Fathers’ Day!
My Birthday!

Please Party with me, and all the other June Babies!  This week:  JAMES MOSELEY DANCE BAND at Seahorse on Saturday night!
Sunday there’s FOREVERLAND at Belvedere Park!

Wednesday June 24 two parties:  Ladies Night, Motown at Fenix; and my pals the Treble Makers havin’ a “TwangFest” at Peri’s!
Hope I see you there ♫♪♪

Special Offer: I have 2 pair of VIP tickets for the Unauthorized Rolling Stones show at the elegant City Winery (Napa Valley Opera House) on June 27.
To make this a contest, tell me the name of another enterprise of Rudy Colombini. (There is more than one answer.) The first two who email me with a correct answer get the tickets.  Please only respond if you know you can attend.  Promises to be another exciting show!

Where I've been ... Yikes!  The Drake High graduation last Friday in the sweltering heat on the astroturf baseball field … I had a few complaints, but excellent to celebrate the lovely Miss Emily Rose, whom I’ve known since she was born!  I missed the Opening Party of San Rafael Rocks –were you there?  But I did get over to 19 Broadway for the always groovy Soul Ska
Saturday and Sunday the Novato Art Wine & Music Festival—best lineup yet!  I got there for Howell Devine—but where were you?  Following them Royal Jelly Jive, and after that Mustache Harbor—but I headed for the Hopmonk Stage and Tim Flannery & The Lunatic Fringe, my first chance to appreciate his fine act.
Hung out with friends Michael & Sarah at their downtown home, then checked out Walt the Dog at the Viking (I thought they were a blues group, but they were getting down with Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix—great stuff). Apparently they are the “House Band” at the Viking.  Also stopped by Trek for a few minutes and was impressed by the lovely female voice of jazz duo Dawn Patrol.
After that?  Hopmonk with Freddy Clarke & Wobbly World.  Guess everyone was too tuckered out to come out and savor this incredible act.  I got there in time for the belly dancer, and then had a chance to do my own version.  Yuk yuk.
Sunday afternoon back at the Novato Festival—and the best lineup they’ve ever had, in my humble opinion!  (Thanks to Rob Sundberg for booking).  Arrived for San Geronimo, then my wonderful MOJO RISING, and topped it off with Petty Theft!!  Back to Michael & Sarah’s, and the 2nd half of the Warriors game – WOWZA!  How fun was that??!
All-in-all, a music and fun-packed weekend.  Gratitude. ♫♫♪

So here’s what’s coming:

Music Fun Week of June 10-17

Sometimes “Benign Neglect” produces a Miracle! (aka I got Lucky)

A Rose is a Rose ... Outside my Front Door
The hour is late, and I could skip the “where I’ve been” and “what’s on the agenda” – but there’s that gratitude thing …
So I’ll just keep it short, and shout out Foreverland at Northgate (my, oh my!), Pop Rocks at Hopmonk, and Reggae Night at Hopmonk.  I missed a lot of great music last week, but give thanks for what I had! J

To come?  A fabulous weekend, no doubt!  I’ll be at a high school graduation on Friday, with a party to follow.  From there I’d like to take in the Opening Party of San Rafael Rocks if I can make it.  If too late I’ll possibly get to Soul Ska at 19 Broadway since I’ll be in the territory.  There’s also the Sunnbolt Friday Night Jam, The Chime Travelers at Trek
Saturday will take in the afternoon lineup at Novato Festival.  Like I said, where’s that magic carpet to get me over to Fairfax as well!?  Saturday night fun will be had at Hopmonk with fabulous Freddy Clarke & Wobbly World.  There’s also DJ Richard Habib at Seahorse, Doc Kraft at Presidio, Fleetwood Mask at Fenix, Lighthouse Singers at Unity … “and so much more”.

Sunday afternoon back at the Novato Festival—looks to me like the best lineup they’ve ever had!

Surely there’s some Musical Magic in your near future as well ♫♫♪

Music Fun Week of June 3-10, 2015

JUNE is bustin’ out all over! ♪♪♫♫♪

Summer Solstice, Dads & Grads, Weddings and Babies, Music Festivals, and all those June BIRTHDAYS!  Like mine (24, my favorite number)!  Let’s get to celebrating our Birthday Month ♪♫

Trish's newest grandchild, Andrew!
Thrilled to meet you, Andrew!
What it was, how I celebrated with music:
Wednesday Peri’s, TWANGFEST with Treble Makers Frank, Jeb, Kevin, Schrammie—as well as Tal Morris, Danny Click, Monroe Grisman, Tommy Odetto, and more fab musicians than I can remember.  I love these guys!  Love to Ted O, RIP **
Friday back at Peri’s for the always entertaining and musical magic of The Right Time [& Fenton Coolfoot], followed by Stymie and the Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra – more phenomenal energy, funky  stage show!
Saturday Fairfax again (!), for dancin’ fun with Korty & Friends at 19 Broadway, with Jonathan K, Frank Bohan, Dave Burns, Dan Duffin -- the new and improved 19 Broadway!
♫♪♪

What’s coming?
Friday we begin our outdoor music series, at Northgate for FOREVERLAND!  Way to break in the season!!
After that, possibly head to Hopmonk for Pop Rocks, or to Seahorse for Doc Kraft …There’s also Stefanie Keys at Fenix, Chime Travelers at Rickey’s, The 7th Sons at Elks Club (must RSVP beforehand), and more (I think there are 20 venues listed for Friday this week!).
Saturday there’s Vinyl at 19 Broadway, James Henry & Hands on Fire at Fenix, Steve Lucky & The Rhumba Bums at Rancho – but if I can get up to Twin Oaks, it’s SugarFoot (preceded by Void Where Prohibited).
Sunday Firewheel plays at Fenix; Sunday Cookout Music Series at Hopmonk, and 1st Sunday Reggae in the Session Room; the Corte Madera Town Center afternoon series begins.
Wednesday there’s the monthly Big Band Swing Dance at Corte Madera Community Center.

Looking forward next weekend (13th & 14th) to the NOVATO ART WINE & MUSIC Festival, as well as Fairfax Festival.  Quite a fabulous music lineup at both venues this year!  Though logistically speaking, quite likely I will be in Novato both days.  Where is my magic carpet??

[That Summer Music Series listing has grown.  I’ll be posting as promised, but when I do it will cover the weekly Music Fun listing, so you’ll have to keep scrolling back for that.]
