Music Fun Week of September 11

UPDATES in RED
WHEW! Another fantabulous week & end gone by.  We’re still enjoying Summertime, though that hint of Autumn is definitely in the air, with nippy nights nigh.

My praises: Thanks to EDDIE Neon Band at Maria’s event at PYC on Thursday; Juke Joint at Pacheco Plaza; Jamalicious at Broken Drum; THE TICKETS BAND at PYC—all on Friday.  Sorry to miss Sunnbolt’s 1st Friday Jam this month, but Carlos & I DID somehow manage to make it to 5 different events on Friday. Don’t know that I’ll be repeating that anytime soon!
Saturday saw us at the TREK WINERY Grand Opening for much of the afternoon and into the evening—great to see so many of you show up and enjoy the great wine and the ambiance at this fabulous venue!  You MUST give this place a try—open daily (except Mon.) between 11am & 7pm, 1026 Machin Ave. Novato.  [While at TREK you can also enjoy the magical paintings of George Sumner]. Then after TREK, we were on to PYC once again to rock out with the DOC KRAFT Band.
On Sunday, after Unity and a pleasant afternoon stop & sip at TREK, we took in the JAMES MOSELEY Band at the Cruising Club to help celebrate Jack Prendergast’s birthday!  Wowza!

This coming week, starting on Wed., it’s the Ray Simpson Big Band at Corte Madera Rec Center.
On Thursday Danny Click is getting’ bluesy at Sleeping Lady; on Friday the double-bill at Eagles in Alameda (Zydeco Flames + Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums) is calling—but so are Wonderbread 5 at George’s!!  On Saturday, I just dunno—probably do some DJ dancing at George’s, or if the zydeco bug is not sated, may get on up to Monroe Hall for more Flames; and on Sunday likely to be in Mill Valley …

I wish you all a very happy week of musical delights!

Music Fun Week of September 4

UPDATES in RED
How do I begin to express my gratitude for the Musical JOY that infused this long holiday weekend? I dunno, but at least a few shout-outs are in order. Beginning on Thursday, Carlos & I grooved with James Moseley R&B at Nourish with Jack, Carrie & Allen; on Friday my pals the Zydeco Flames laid it down in Alameda; Saturday went out to Papa’s Taverna for our friends The Blues Burners, then drove down to George’s and got lucky with Danny Click and the Hell Yeahs! makin’ magic.  A great deal of rockin’ with Petty Theft on Sunday; and Marin City on Monday for John Lee Hooker Jr., Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic, and Pete Escovedo!  Yes, I’m a little tired ... but know I'll boogie again!

This week I’d like to make it to Presidio Yacht Club on Thursday for Eddie Neon Band— miss you, Eddie! Should I camp out at PYC for The Tickets Band on Fri. nite? And then Doc Kraft shows up on Saturday!  Also Saturday, The Tickets Band are stickin’ around and making merry with their Moose and Squirrel Tour at the Seahorse.  Sunday looks good at “The Barge” with James Moseley Dance Band.  Lots more too, like Stephanie Teel Band at George’s on Fri., as well as Juke Joint Band at Pacheco, Sunnbolt Studios Jam, and Jamalicious at Broken Drum.  Saturday daytime you’ll find us at TREK WINERY’s Grand Opening Celebration—come on down!
TREK WINERY Grand Opening on Saturday, Sept. 8, daytime.  1026 Machin Ave. (a block from Redwood, corner of Sweetser), Downtown Novato. Come see and taste at this fabulous new venueTREK also serves as a showroom for famed environmental painter George Sumner, with many of his magnificent works on display.  Read about it in Wines & Vines: http://www.winesandvines.com/template.cfm?section=news&content=104683
