Positive affirmations bring strength—and are more fun than worrying!
Carlos & I had our
first conversation on Feb. 3, 2012. It’s been one year, and we are still
talking. Hooray!
An interesting weekend …
the first Saturday night in that year that we did not go out dancing. This cold just pulled the rug out from under
me, and my energy was depleted!
Have to share this …
if you’re not a regular fan, please check out daughter Laura Mae’s post this week, about fame and Valentino (aka Tino): http://www.lilacsandlace.blogspot.com – also now available via her website lauramaedesigns.com. Good for a smile! Okay, she already did another post … go to Monday’s, “When
Fame Becomes Problematic”.
Accolades to Dennis Haneda for putting on another
very entertaining Open Mic at Hopmonk
Novato on Wednesday. (Every
Wednesday!) Biggest crowd ever—I heard
there were 3 Meetups attending. Fun with
“amazing young talent” Matt Jaffe
and his band. Yeah, 17-year-olds do have a certain energy …
And so do the “older”
folks: Tommy Atkin, Chris Carpiniello, Ajaya, John Chapman—and all the usual
suspects … [Please vote for Chris’s
band Revenant in Hard Rock Café’s Battle of the Bands.
Go to https://www.facebook.com/HRCSanFrancisco?sk=app_205164529573076&app_data,
“Like” the page, Sort by Name, Revenant is on page 9, then Download or click on
their song Emergency to vote. They’re
doing well, up near the top, but would love your vote (ends Feb. 11). Big thanks
from Chris!]
Shout-outs also to the
exceptional Soul Satellites at Peri’s on Fri. night: Ted O’Connell, Dave Burns, and Frank Bohan of Treble Makers, and that same Frank along with Lloyd Meadows and Timm
Walker of Zydeco Flames. Yes, they
burned it. We didn’t have a chance to
get next door for Danny Click’s
show, as we had to fly down to Sausalito to catch the last set of The Mighty Groove, and groove along we
did! Then came sad Saturday, pooped out,
missed Cathey Cotton’s show with Elliott’s Evil Plan at Peri’s, missed Roy Rogers at Hopmonk, missed Doc Kraft
at PYC, missed Stephanie Teel at George’s,
you get the picture. On Sunday we had our own Super Bowl party--the first one I've ever watched. Sorry about that, Niners! However, still much to shout about, and the coming week looks amazing.
Another abundance of riches, and multiple dance band dilemma:
Tonight we’ll be at Panama Hotel for Swing Fever—a lovely friend is treating us.
Wednesday looking good
for Iron Springs and our friend Danny O’Grady’s Eldon Brown Band for some boogie-woogie. Perhaps we’ll get to Dennis’s Open Mic at Hopmonk after that.
Thursday: Trek Winery for some jazz with Herb Marshall Group, then over to Hopmonk for Donny Mederos’ Pro Jam with The
Blues Defenders; [and Pocket Change
is at Peri’s!]
Friday hope to be at Hopmonk for Pulsators & Gator Beat! [There’s also George’s: Cheeseballs; Fenix: Miles Schon; Eagles: Zydeco Flames; 19 Broadway: Revolver
with Who Too; and much more]
Saturday we should be
at Presidio Yacht Club for our fabulous
The Tickets Band. But there’s also …
yikes!
On Sunday the Lonestar Retrobates tempt at PYC, and Steve Sodokoff’s Gimme Shelter event entices – is it
possible for me to cross that bridge? You can read about all these musical
delights and more below J ♫♪♫♪
