Music Fun Week of Jan. 15-22, 2014

Greetings and Well-Wishes to our Tribe! ♫♪

A BIG thumbs-up for RETURN to the FORBIDDEN PLANET – community theatre at its best!  A campy sci-fi/ Shakespeare (whether you love or hate it!)/ musical theatre treat!  Many voices I’d like to hear again (including jazz r&b show singer Phillip Percy Williams); over 2 dozen upbeat tunes we all know from the 50s & 60s (Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown, Dion and the Belmonts, Roy Orbison, Beach Boys); imaginative choreography & costumes; clever direction from Carl Jordan.  Do yourself a favor and get over to the tiny (88-seat, so they may sell out) Novato Theatre Co., 5420 Nave Dr.  Show runs Fri. & Sat. evenings, Sun. matinees through Jan. 26.  Tickets:  http://www.marinonstage.org/tickets---forbidden-planet.html

The week past was a very busy one indeed:  Tuesday to the deYoung with Laura; Wednesday night Carlos & I at the Big Band Dance in Corte Madera—best one yet!; Friday night at TREK Winery for Herb Marshall Group, then Hopmonk for Pop Fiction and a sellout crowd of dancers.  Saturday the ZYDECO FLAMES at Fenix – a wonderful combo of zydeco dancers and those just there to shake their booty and enjoy!
Sunday was a triple-header, beginning with services & fellowship at Unity in Marin; then “Return to the Forbidden Planet” matinee at NTC; then back to Fenix for one of our fave bands, The BluesBurners, and an appreciative following.

I don’t think I can keep up with last week’s schedule, but CAN’T MISS Ms. Bonnie Hayes  at Sweetwater on Sunday night!  It’s the night before Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, and it’s promising to be a SELL-OUT, so get your tix early so you’re not left out!
Thursday a special benefit at Seahorse with James Moseley Dance Band.  And Freeway Frank Bohan with Leon Bristow at Presidio Y.C.
Friday we’ve got Doc Kraft at Presidio Y.C., Rock Candy and Funkstrocity at Hopmonk, Soul Power at Fenix – and see what else below.
Saturday there’s Olive & The Dirty Martinis at Trek Winery; Zoo Station & Stung at Hopmonk; REVOLVER at PYC; Honeydust at 19 Broadway
And if you can work in Return to the Forbidden Planet at Novato Theater Co. Fri. Sat. or Sunday – you’ll be glad you did!

Do it--DANCE! ♫♪♫♪
