New Year’s
Resolutions, anyone? I resolve to continue
what I’m doing because of the rewards: a
sense of community, conviviality, appreciation.
I’ve been
producing a music/ dance calendar for 3-1/2 or 4 years, beginning with a list of about
50 friends going back to June 2010 (or maybe March), and gradually increasing
as I meet new people each week—so that now I mail directly to about 900
people! Others hear about it and go
directly to the website. My community
service, labor of love … Blessings!
Yesterday was a wonderful Mother/Daughter
Day in the City, a continuation of Laura’s Birthday celebration, taking
in the Bvlgari exhibit at the de Young (and some David Hockney
while we were at it!). Laura tends to
dress to the nines wherever we go, and attracts a lot of attention from
museum-goers. I can easily see her
wearing many of the spectacular gems that were on display! She always did like to play dress-up.
Me & My Gal after the Bulgari exhibit at deYoung
What has transpired on the dance
floor? Friday evening Carlos & I at Sunnbolt
First Friday Jam. Thought we would
move on to Elks Club and perhaps Fairfax … but we got into the groove at
Sunnbolt and stayed put! Then on
Saturday night we were back at Hopmonk for the Linda Ferro Band
for some funk and rock—but we arrived late and they ended early and so I had
less than an hour of dancing!
This
week is full of promise: Wednesday night
at the Big Band Dance in Corte Madera; Friday night at Hopmonk
for Pop Fiction and plenty of dancefloor action. There’s also Danny Click at the Sleeping
Lady (both Fri. & Sat.); Eddie Neon at Seahorse; Pocket
Change at Peri’s. Saturday I
hope to be at Fenix for ZYDECO FLAMES, and of course they will have
an open dance floor for the zydeco gang!
Sunday back at Fenix for a favorite North Bay Band: The BluesBurners. Hope you can be there!
As I’ve said: Hope you get out and move it …
And if you can’t, have fun inside your head! ♫♪♫♪
