Music Fun Week of JANUARY 1, 2013

UPDATES in RED
A New Year – more chances to get it right … ♫♪

The weather has given us a bright start to this New Year—2013!  I’m not into odd numbers (lol), but am happy to predict much happiness to share this year.

I spent December 28 with my birthday girl, Laura Mae, who turned 32!  We took in the Rudolph Nureyev exhibit “A Life in Dance” (there until Feb. 17) at the DeYoung, and the William S. Paley Collection of Modernism, with a heavy emphasis on French Post-Impressionism, as I noted that it closed in two days.  Of course Laura had to create a new frock for the occasion:

You can see more at her website, Lilacs and Lace: http://lilacsandlace.blogspot.com/.
Please take a look at her Year in Review post as well:  http://lilacsandlace.blogspot.com/2012/12/2012-year-in-review.html  She is astoundingly prolific and has created some 35 or 36 exquisite sewing and knitting projects during 2012!!

After our day in the City, still managed to get out to rock at the Presidio with Carlos, for The 7th Sons.
On Saturday there was nothing but groovy dance music from the James Moseley Band at the Seahorse. Just like old times--the dance floor was packed!  Love and Gratitude to James, Jack, Carrie, Haley, Steve, Jean, Marina and KC!
Sunday afternoon we made our way to the Sweetwater to catch the last bit of another free Moonalice show. Got to hand it to the very generous Roger McNamee who makes it possible.
And on NEW YEAR’S EVE Carlos & I were fortunate to stay very local and live it up at the Hopmonk Novato with PETTY THEFT and a very happy crowd of revelers. Sorry to have missed some other great parties—but big YAY for local fun!

Coming up this week, I’d like to get down to the Panama for Donna D’s show on Thursday.  On Friday—missing Zydeco Flames, but again may stick around for something closer to home—SwingSet at Rickey’s? David Thom at HopmonkOh, and Carlos & I will definitely stop by (and probably linger at) the Sunnbolt Jam.
On Saturday night, Black Market Blues at Hopmonk sounds real good; though I’ve never heard the Rancho Allstars and hope to someday soon. And what about The Treble Makers at Coffee Roasters in San Anselmo? Keep hopin’ I’ll get there, but it’s pretty rare for me to get up & out on a Saturday morning …  Looking forward to the Harold Jones Big Band Dance in San Geronimo on Sunday afternoon—always a treat when they perform!  We’ll see how the week unfolds …

Blessings as you begin your personal journey again each day.  ♪♫♪

Please take a look at all the listings and details that follow♫♪♫♪

Music Fun Week of June 26

UPDATES in RED  (scroll down)
Special thanks to all who voted for George’s Nightclub for the Chase/LivingSocial Small Business grant—they reached their required 250 votes and now qualify … winners will be announced mid-September.  Go, George’s!!  ♫♪♫♫♪

AWESOME, AWESOME, BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!  And I’ve been saying this for the past 3 years, so now it’s exponentially magnificent!
Special thanks to the fabulous James Moseley Dance Band at Seahorse on Saturday night for making me feel like the Dancing Queen. Sunday at the Rancho with Petty Theft was another elevating exuberant experience!  Got to love these wonderful music-makers!!  And Carlos.

I’m especially enriched by yesterday’s Daily Word, and want to share with you:  GRACE.
GOD’S GRACE IS ENOUGH, AT ALL TIMES AND IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.
There is nothing I need to do to earn grace. It is not made available based on the amount of money in my bank account, my good works or my redeeming qualities; nor is grace withheld based on how well I do on my spiritual path. Grace just is.
Ever-present, unlimited and all-sustaining, grace flows to me and through me in times of trouble and sorrow, as well as joy and celebration. Grace envelops me in hope, renews my faith and guides me toward unlimited prosperity.
I rest in the assurance that God’s grace is enough. I see the events of my life and the desires of my heart unfolding in perfect ways. Grace abounds in me, through me and all around me—now.
‘Nuff said. ♫♪

And what does this weekend hold?  HEY! I’m still celebrating my BIRTHDAY MONTH

On Thursday I'll be visiting the DeYoung with Lovely Laura for the Fashion World of Jean Paul GaultierI’m thinking those ever-lovin’ ZYDECO FLAMES on Friday nite in Alameda; and Saturday at George’s with RUDI COLOMBINI & THE UNAUTHORIZED ROLLING STONES! (see Sat. listing for online discount); perhaps the MARIN CO. FAIR on Sunday …
