UPDATES in RED
And when I speculated last week about confluence of all the birthdays … I wasn’t kidding! Everywhere we showed up, and I announced
Carlos’s birthday, I heard “Oh, it was my birthday yesterday,” or “Oh, mine is
on Monday!” and so on.
So more Birthday shout-outs to Elke, Margaret M, Cathleen, Valerie—and all you others I’ve missed this past week!
Carlos & I had a very full and wonderful week past: Sweetwater
on Tuesday eve for Songbook Night—though it was not a dancing crowd, someone’s
got to do it, so we did our share. And on Wednesday it was Carlos’s mini-intro
to Fairfax life at the Iron Springs
Brewpub, for Mike Altman’s birthday, dishing out Jonathan Korty on keys, Barry
Sless on guitar & pedal, Pete
Sears on bass, Inkx Herman on
drums, and birthday cake to boot. What a
celebration, with dancing & jumping about in the aisles!
On Fri. nite we got to party with REVOLVER at the Presidio Y.C.—and
again, lots of happy dancing spirits. Saturday
was another of those nights when I am torn between supporting more than one
band I love at the same! I was a little
disappointed to not be present for my friends The Tickets Band at PYC, but as it was Carlos’s birthday he got to
choose, and we drove out to Rancho
Nicasio for Danny Click & the
Hell Yeahs! Yikes! Crazy fun with that gang! Big Smiles to Danny, Don Bassey, Bonnie Hayes,
Tracy Blackman, Adrienne Biggs & Ernest
“Boom” Carter!
Sunday, Carlos’s actual birthday, found us at the Mill Valley Block Party on
Throckmorton, out in front of Larry the
Hat’s Famous 4—hundreds of happy folks out in the heat, kicking it up with The Treble Makers & Frank Bohan & Lloyd Meadows (both of Zydeco
Flames) & Bonnie Hayes &
Tim Hockenberry …& way more
great musicians.
The MAGIC continued in Fairfax, with Eddie Neon Band, then Elliott’s
Evil Jam & Cathey Cotton all at 19
Broadway. This was Carlos’s intro to the Fairfax scene, and it was topped
deliciously with a visit to Fradelizio’s, where Paul treated us
like royalty!
My TREK WINERY shout-out: Andy & Liz are open until 10pm on Friday
& Saturdays to accommodate the
happy people coming by. Open til 7pm Sunday, Wednesday and
Thursday. You can now order food while
at Trek from Chianti Cucina, Grazie, or
Finnegans, and it will be delivered and plated for you right there at Trek.
1026 Machin Ave. Novato. While there, enjoy the wonderful paintings of George Sumner!
We’re heading to Sweetwater
tonite for TOMMY CASTRO. Hope to be at PYC on Thursday for Eddie
Neon and the Boys! On Friday George’s beckons with Reggae Night—or will be stay close to
home for Dan Brown & Full Steem
at Ghiringhelli’s Novato? And Jamalicious at Broken Drum is worth a listen and a shake. Oh, and it’s Sunnbolt’s First Friday Jam! On Saturday it’s a tough call between Ms. Kitty Cat and the Evil Plan at Peri’s, or Revolver & Bonnie Hayes
at Rancho … and/or something
else!! Be open to Possibility, one never
knows what Magic awaits …
I wish you all a very happy week of musical delights--again!
