Music Fun Week of Jan. 15, 2013

UPDATES in RED
The pessimist may be right in the long run,
But the optimist has a better time on the trip!  [borrowed from a fellow Toastmaster, from Daniel L. Reardon]

Another Magical Musical Week—and a great way to get through this cold winter! Thanks to Hopmonk Novato for hosting another Donny Mederos’ Pro Jam with The Blues Defenders—including my pal Bruce Gordon from Zydeco Flames, Matt Silva--and Special Guest Zayika Hooker. That lady has the sass & class! The Pro Jam is scheduled for every other Tuesday, so get yourself over there for some fun.
Our monthly Corte Madera big band dance event on Wednesday with the Ray Simpson Big Band was once again highly entertaining—and a fun gathering.
On Friday Carlos & I found ourselves again at Hopmonk for the awesome Eric McFadden, shredding up his guitar, along with Ed Ivey on bass and Jeff A for amazing drums! Saturday, of course we could not miss favorites the James Moseley Band Dance Party at Seahorse!  On Sunday we wandered on down to the Presidio Yacht Club on a beautiful afternoon for The Lonestar Retrobates– a monthly gig for them, and a great way to pass the afternoon with some real happy dancing music. Don’t know how much longer the PYC will be around for us to enjoy in its present form, as the NPS has plans to gentrify it … so take advantage while it’s around!

This week:  Wednesday may be our chance to get to Dennis Haneda’s Open Mic at the Hopmonk.  Friday Beso Negro tempts, also at Hopmonk.  There’s also Doc Kraft—whom we haven’t heard for awhile, at Presidio Yacht Club.  And the audacious Zydeco Flames are at Eagles!  Saturday we’re looking forward to dancing with our pals The Tickets Band at Rancho Nicasio. Coco Montoya at Hopmonk promises to be an amazing show as well.  Sunday or Tuesday hope to attend the Marin Symphony concert.  MUSIC HEALS Mind Body & Spirit!

George’s is gearing up for a full schedule once again, and we hear murmurings of The Fenix rising …

Blessings as you begin your personal journey again each day.  ♪♫♪
