Music Fun Week of Jan. 22, 2013

We can choose how we react to situations, to free ourselves from negativity, to forgive, to see things work out for the highest good of all concerned.  Here’s hoping!  … rephrased from a Unity talk.

This past week was another blessing!  We finally made it to one of Dennis Haneda’s Open Mics at Hopmonk Novato, and were pleasantly surprised at the display of talent—and plenty of blues to keep us on our feet.  We were back at Hopmonk on Fri. night for Beso Negro, another first listen for us—plenty of freestyle fun, a full dance floor enjoying their style of Gypsy swing.
On Friday we preceded our dancing with Narada Michael Walden’s entertaining talk to a packed house at Book Passage, to promote his book Whitney Houston: The Voice, The Music, The Inspiration.— and with some great live music.
Saturday at the Rancho for The Tickets Band—the place was packed, a birthday party coincided—so I’m very happy that The Tickets have a whole new set of fans!  On Sunday we were invited to a pre-opening dinner at the Fenix Music & Supper Club, treated to an exceptional dining experience, with the Fenix Band – Fernando Aragon, Larry Vann, Roscoe Gallo, Janice Maxie, and Kyle Hixon-- adding to a very classy act all around—the food, the music, the ambiance.  The dining room is actually a state-of-the-art recording studio!  Here’s wishing them much success!

This week:  George’s Nightclub is back in the swing, with 2 big weekend shows:  Wonderbread 5, and Eric Martin of Mr. Big!  And down the street, the Fenix Music & Supper Club opens its doors with a Wednesday Blues Show, and Thursday Jazz!  We’re so delighted to have Hopmonk in our neighborhood, with ongoing outstanding music.  This week is a tough call … I want to hear my friends Johnny Z and TRENZ at the PYC; but also hoped to check out Pepperland at Hopmonk; and of course Wonderbread 5 is at George’s!  On Saturday the Zydeco Flames are at Peri’s in Fairfax! And with the great press The Sorentinos received this week in the Pacific Sun, guess I have to make my way over to Hopmonk as well!  …and take a look at all the other amazing choices right here in our little county!  I’m missing the Blues Jam at Hopmonk tonight, as well as the Marin Symphony—darn it, but I can’t be everywhere.  Still, counting all those blessings!

Please take a look at all the listings and details that follow♫♪♫♪
