Music Fun Week of June 25

UPDATES (since Tuesday) in RED
Birthday Wonder

A thousand thanks for all the beautiful birthday greetings!
There’s always room for a first.  This was the first time in 42 years of living in California that it rained on JUNE 24—my Birthday!  I who love to see the sun shine, who can depend on cloud-clearing to feel myself smile, actually had a beautiful birthday Monday, in spite of the weather!  Carlos took the day off, then let me go to have lunch with Trish—who sometimes can be hard to catch. I spent a delightful hour-and-a-half in Safeway, chatting with everyone in sight after getting my free very caffeinated Starbucks birthday drink.  Correctly guessed the age of a baby in aisle 4 (10 months), and it turned out that mom Ananda and I shared our birthday—she turning 30!  Met an English grammy and her 4-1/2 year old grandson Fentin, who though American also has an English accent.  Very cute!  And so on and so on … having fun in mundane places!  And a gorgeous salmon dinner prepared by Chef Carlos!  Mmmmm.

Had another delicious weekend of musical treats:  Fri. night at Northgate with the absolutely awesome Zydeco Flames, who mention me in their latest CD Fire Dance!!  And Saturday night at PYC, where the inimitable Dan Brown fronted Cheap Therapy.  I have not seen such a crowd at PYC for several years, and with the FULL STRAWBERRY MOON shining down, quite a magical evening!
On Sunday we visited with Donnalei & George Sumner and others at TREK Winery, entertained by Jaime Alvero from Peru.

This week, the James Moseley Band at Sweetwater on Wednesday evening – don’t miss it!
Have not heard Doc Kraft and the Boys for a long time—and I expect them to party hearty at the Seahorse on Fri. nite--we'll be there!  Perhaps check in on the Marinwood Music for the Shook Twins on our way south, or maybe Stung at Creekside if the weather is promising …
Saturday very likely could be Shana Morrison & Caledonia at Hopmonk – there’s also Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums out at Rancho.
And on Sunday there’s the Italian Street Painting Festival with a great musical lineup, and The 7th Sons at Magnolia Terrace.
