Music Fun Week of Sept. 17

Enjoy the last week of Summer!
We may be welcoming Autumn, but there will yet be another Indian Summer in the Bay Area (how lucky are we!), along with those cool, crisp days and evenings.
Hope the Season is good for you!  ♫♪

 How cool is that?!
Be at Trek on Saturday night to Groove! ♫♪♪

The past week of Musical Pleasure:
Ray Simpson Big Band Dance in Corte Madera on Wednesday.  Good music, fun times, more new people—come and enjoy next month on October 9.  And it’s free!
Carlos & I met up with friends at the Presidio Yacht Club on Friday to enjoy Doc Kraft and his Band: Tucker, John & Patrick—and thank them for helping out with the music at Johnnie Jean’s celebration at Stafford Lake Park.  We left a wee bit early to get over to Hopmonk to hear Kevin Russell Band—and happy we got there in time to hear 2 last songs: a riff on Shaft, and Voodoo Child.  Kevin is definitely worth hearing again, an amazing performer!
On Saturday we were treated to the wonderful Greg Johnson & Glass Brick Boulevard at the Fenix, with Greg on keys of course, “fun machine” Rob Fordyce on bass, Paul Hanson on electric bassoon (!), and Celso Alberti on drums.  Definitely world-class musicians.  Managed to dance in the back of the room toward the end of the evening, but it is inhibiting when there’s no dance floor, and no one else up to shake their booty.  But there was definitely a lot of shoulder wagging and chair wiggling.  More please!
The Marin Symphony Waterfront Pops Concert at Lagoon Park on Sunday was a mighty success!  I’d guess about 2,000 people enjoyed the perfect weather and the stirring music of John Williams, followed by the fireworks!  We need more support for our very own Marin Symphony!  I’m singing in 3 concerts with them this year, so you will definitely hear more about that!

On the TO-DO list this week:
I had intended that Carlos & I check out tonight’s debut of the Starduster Orchestra monthly series at Marin Community Center, but a troublesome shoulder precludes any dancing tonight.  Instead we will go to my Toastmasters Contest at FICO.
I won’t make plans until Friday (well, maybe we can sneak out to Hopmonk for the Wednesday Open Mic and catch Flanelhed), but then intend to be at Pacheco Plaza for Caribbean Spirit—the final summer performance at this venue.  From there we will likely stop at Hopmonk for PepperlandLorin Rowan of the Edge and the S.F. Music Society and Rubber Souldier joins them on vocals and guitar.
Saturday looks special with The MIGHTY GROOVE at TREK Winery!  Check out this special night of fun!
We may get over for the last set of Linda Imperial & David Freiberg at Hopmonk.  There’s also James Moseley Band at Seahorse.  Dang! Can’t be everywhere …
Sunday afternoon we'll be checking out the Mill Valley Art Festival.
Hope to see you!  ♫♪
