Music Fun Week of Sept. 10, and Johnnie Jean

UPDATES (since Tuesday) in RED (scroll down)
Johnnie Jean loved her celebration.
Thanks to Elliot Karlan for tirelessly and lovingly documenting the event.  I knew she was there, but Elliot proved it with a few of his photos …
Thanks to Doc Kraft Band, along with Knut & Beth of Sunnbolt Studios, Mindy Canter, and several Sunnbolt regulars for bringing the music and making it a real party.
Thanks to all Johnnie’s family and friends for coming together and making this special day happen …

   ”Go Johnnie Go, Johnnie Be Good!” ♫♪

There were probably about 300 of us gathered at Stafford Lake Park on Sunday.  We laughed, some wept; we shared memories, watched slideshows of photos of her life, ate, drank, celebrated ladybugs, danced and partied.  All brought together by love of and for a very special person in our lives—Johnnie Jean Daniel.  As someone recently said, “She’s a force of nature!”  Johnnie, you left us far too soon, but your memory will never die, for you touched the hearts and lives of so many.

Here are more of Elliot’s photos:

There is a lost and found list of items left behind.  Contact Ed at 415-246-6153 if any are yours.
* 3 small keys on a key ring;
* sterling silver cake slicer;
* 2 small knives with black handles (one says “good cook”);
* large ceramic plate with a large leaf pattern;
* yellow slotted serving spoon;
* large white and tan floppy woven hat by San Diego Hat Co.;
* Chanel pink lipstick, black tube with gold band around middle;
* Sunglasses--reddish copper plastic wraparound.

Other shout-outs for music this past week:  On Thursday Carlos & I headed down to Presidio Yacht Club for Eddie Neon’s Blues.  It’s been too long since I’ve heard Eddie and the boys— with Horacio, Tommy Ray, and our pal Tom Atkin on keys.  Good times!
Friday found us at Sunnbolt’s 1st Friday Jam.  Beth and Knut have been doing this for years, and it’s a real joy to share, a down-home jam with a speak-easy vibe.  Sorry though to have missed Danny Click and the Hell Yeahs … but sometimes it’s hard to leave to get somewhere else!
Saturday evening we drove out to Rancho Nicasio for The Tickets Band and their joyful sound.  Plenty of fun on the dance floor!  Thanks Debra, Will, Mike, Jeff and Kelly!  Looking forward to their CD recording at the Presidio on Oct. 3 & 4!

Happening this week:  hopefully the Big Band Dance in Corte Madera on Wednesday.  Friday we’ll head to the Presidio Yacht Club for Doc Kraft Dance Band—most of the gang will be there.  What about James Moseley Dance Band at Fenix?  Can I be two places at once?  We’ll see … There’s also Petty Theft at George's and Kevin Russell Band at Hopmonk
The schedule has switched at Trek; therefore we may be there for the Chime Travelers for a bit on Saturday (The Mighty Groove—fabulous funky groovy jazzy fun will be there next Sat. 9/21), but we'll pretty likely head to Fenix for Greg Johnson & Glass Brick Boulevard—another of my recent favorites.  There’s also Jack Prendergast for the early show 4-7 at the Seahorse, and Olive and the Dirty Martinis at 9.
On Sunday we’ll be at the Marin Symphony Waterfront Pops Concert—hopefully the first of a yearly tradition.  If you can’t be there, how about Rockit Science at Magnolia Terrace (Elks Club)?

Take a look at all the listings below – you’re sure to find something that tickles your fancy!  ♫♪♫♪
