Music Fun Week of Nov. 5

UPDATES(since Tuesday) in RED (scroll down)

Hope you had some HALLOWEEN FUN!  The Fairy Godmother was out there dispensing plenty of fairy dust and good wishes, and got quite a bit of mileage from her Magic Wand!

Fenix with James Moseley; Peri’s for Soul Satellites; Rickey’s for Halloween DJ … ♫♪♪

With her handsome Cowboy Carlos at her side, Fairy Godmother started out last week at the Fenix with James Moseley Dance Band, and a great party it was!
This week we hit Rickey’s for Halloween Night with a DJ and great costume prizes, then Friday the Sunnbolt First Friday Jam, followed by Hopmonk for El Radio Fantastique. Got to say a few words: they are billed as “vaudeville, ragtime, swing”—but I’ve never experienced anything quite like them.  They cast spells!  Go to one of their shows if you get the chance!
On Saturday we headed to Fairfax and Peri’s for our faves The Soul Satellites who kept the joint moving.
And Sunday the costume came off, and the wand became imaginary, as we luckily made it to Sophie’s Living room (the space inhabited by the Don’t Quit Your Day Job Dancers & Stage Dor) for a wonderful “Live Rehearsal” by Greg Johnson and Glass Brick Boulevard – Greg with Rob Fordyce, Celso Alberti, & Paul Hanson.  Lots of Magic and Joy and Dancing, of course.  I must say this Fairy Godmother is tuckered, but not out!

So sorry to miss Danny Click with Tommy Castro & Mark Karan, and Doc Kraft with Johnny Z, and so many other shows!

This week already made it to 19 Broadway last night (Wed.) for the Ken Khristian Memorial Concert & Celebration.  We didn’t get there in time for the Ken Khristian Band & Christopher Perry, but the place was already on fire, then came Rudy Colombini & The Unauthorized Rolling Stones, and Johnny Moroko as The Other Stones’ Mick Jagger.  Talk about casting spells … the place was like a group possessed!  Love to Ken’s Family …  [Happy to see that 19 Broadway is now in the capable hands of Jonathan Korty, who is kicking it up a notch for this institution and booking great acts!]

Tonight (Thursday) probably will mosey up the 101 to Trek Winery for Amy Wigton—a Joni Mitchell-style chanteuse.  There’s Danny Click at the Lady, and Burnsy’s Sugar Shack at Peri’s, and Achilles Wheel at 19 Broadway—for all you who make it out Fairfax way; and Eddie Neon Pro Blues Jam is at the Presidio Yacht Club; and Bohemian Highway with Ray Clement is at the Fenix … and more than that – take a look -- and it’s only Thursday night!

Friday Carlos & I may go to The Faraway Brothers with Eric McFadden at 19 Broadway, or Doc Kraft at Presidio Y.C.  There’s also Factor 11 at Trek Winery, James Moseley and his Two Dolls at Divino, Miracle Mule at the Art Walk, and more, more, more—take a look.  Seems like there’s always WAY too much choice on Fridays!

Saturday we want to get to The Tickets Band for their last 2013 show … If you’re up north check out The Mighty Groove at Redwood Café.  If you can’t get enough of Fairfax, there’s Zigaboo Modaliste at 19 Broadway!

If we manage to do another 5 nights in a row out dancing, Sunday we’d like to head to the Presidio for Lonestar Retrobates – always a feel-good experience!  And there are another dozen Sunday choices below.

Scroll down and behold all the musical offerings! ♫♪
