UPDATES in RED
Are you taking it one day at a time? All together now: one day at
a time. Don’t wait for tomorrow, try to appreciate each breath, each day. Like that …
The past week was again filled with plenty of Joy and Music. On
Wednesday Tom Rigney and Flambeau at the Mill Valley Plaza, then around the corner at Bungalow 44 we danced to
James Moseley Jazz Trio with James,
Jack & Steve. On Thursday Carlos & I travelled to the deYoung for the Jean Paul Gaultier show—oh la la! We returned to Marin for the Farmers’ Market, and enjoyed Mark Hester Power on roller skates
performing from his top 400—quite a treat! Another r&r group Jo Jo Diamond (I think), and Jeb Brady’s Band filled 4th
St. with plenty of tunes. Special treat after the Farmers Market and dinner at
Sol Food—ABBA: Arrival from Sweden!
at George’s. What a riot! Full house on a Thursday night
for this great international nostalgia act!
Friday we made it to Stinson
Beach and a visit with 3 long-lost friends: Timothy and Brigitte, and
Gayle. So good to be back in touch after many years … It was hard to tear
ourselves away (and so we missed SugarFoot
at Pacheco), but we came back over
the hill and made it to George’s
about 10pm for DJ Disco madness. Fun
show with laser lights, smoke machine, balloons (!), and lots of dancing.
Saturday we did our own thing, and did not make it out to dance!!
But made up for it on Sunday at San
Anselmo Creek Park for THE TICKETS
BAND—always one of my favorites to make me get out and shake it up. Then
dropped by Magnolia Terrace for the
last half-hour of The Fibrillators—I
think we’ll be hearing more of them. Did
anyone make it to the Spark and Whisper
CD recording session—or have you been to Studio 55?
And so another splendid week.
Ready for another?
This week: Party in the Plaza
again (Mill Valley) on Wednesday with Jimmy
Dillon! Following that, on to
Fairfax and 19 Broadway for the Miles Schon Band birthday
celebration. Thursday’s Farmers Market looks like fun with the Johnny Darlin Band … but look what else
is goin’ on!
Friday is another one of those nights—how do we choose? Start
off with the free Northgate concert:
the RaveUps (Yardbirds tribute—sounds
like fun), and then what? Johnny Z and
TRENZ at Presidio? Or the Zydeco Flames gang at Peri’s? Keiko Matsui at George’s
will be phenomenal; and there’s the BluesBurners
in Tiburon; Vinyl at Sweetwater; Andoni; Brad Bann; James Moseley
in Oakland; and oh so much more great music.
And Freeway Frank Bohan has
to warm up for his Zydeco Flames gig
by first performing with the Treble
Makers in San Anselmo. Inspirational!
And then we come to Saturday—and I know not what to do! But oh,
we have Carlos’s high school reunion in Oakland, then a TREK Winery private party … will there be some energy to go out
dancing after a full day of fun? By the way, TREK Winery is still set to open
to the public “very soon.” I will announce it here as soon as I get the word …
Sunday looks like fun with REVOLVER in San Anselmo; James
Moseley & Alex Markels at Rickeys; Magnolia Terrace for Danny Montana; and
lots more free musical loveliness! ♫♪
